GREG FRIPP WITH WHISPERING ROOTS

Growing Food, Minds and Communities Through Aquaponics

Aquaponics is a means of producing food that combines the farming of aquatic animals and the science of hydroponics in a symbiotic environment. This system has enormous potential to bring nutritional resources to communities that are food insecure—both urban and rural. Heralded for its efficiency—significantly less water is used than in traditional farming and the system is self-supporting—Aquaponics not only can put food on the table, it also provides an unrivaled learning environment for the students and the community.

Greg Fripp is the Founder and Executive Director of Whispering Roots, Inc.  Whispering Roots is an award winning non-profit organization dedicated to bringing healthy food, S.T.E.M. Education and economic development to underserved communities by using Aquaculture, Aquaponics and Hydroponics. Greg proudly served his country in the US Navy as both a highly rated Officer and Enlisted Member. After completing his military service, Greg had a very successful career in the corporate world ultimately achieving the position of Head of Talent Acquisition for TD AMERITRADE. Greg left that role in July 2010 to pursue his passion for growing food and developing vibrant communities. His vision led to the creation of Whispering Roots. Greg travels both nationally and internationally consulting on techniques to increase the availability of healthy food while enhancing the educational and economic opportunities for people in need.
