Olsson Associates - Tony Egelhoff & Carrie Romero
In August 2015, there were large rains that exasperated an already growing problem along 108th Street across from Charles: there was a major washout that came to just feet from the roadway. For public safety, the road was closed and an emergency project was started to fix the issue. Olsson Associates was hired by the City of Omaha to provide two solutions - a temporary fix to stabilize the slope and a permanent fix to ultimately fix the current issue. Tony Egelhoff and Carrie Romero will discuss the design for these solutions and the construction that went into this time-sensitive project.
Tony Egelhoff is a Senior Engineer at Olsson Associates, and is in charge of the roadway squad in Omaha. He has been with Olsson for seven years now working as project manager for a wide range of transportation projects including public and private, urban and rural, and large expressways to small scale turn lane projects. He’s most proud of his growing family which includes his engineering wife, 3 yr old son, and 6 month old daughter. Now only missing the dog and picket fence.
Carrie has been with Olsson Associates since 2006 and has experience as a project engineer and project manager for projects that involve hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, floodplain mapping, levee design and levee certification, channel stabilization, and floodplain development permitting and certifications. She has her BS in Biological Systems Engineering from UNL, is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Nebraska and Iowa, and is an ASFPM Certified Floodplain Manager.
